Episode 6: A Storyteller's Passion to Build from Scratch with Justin Brown
In this post, we’ll meet Justin Brown, COO of BigMarker. Justin shares the unique story of how BigMarker came to be, and the journey which he and his cofounder were on to get here.
“In the earliest stages, we were both working at a global consulting firm called Accenture and doing that whole flying around every week and working with big brand name companies and doing really good work. But for him, it all changed when his mom was diagnosed with cancer. During one of the more difficult moments for him, he was up late one night because she was so uncomfortable having gone through some treatment that day. And he was really looking for answers about how to make her more comfortable. He was on message boards and things like that, asking questions, and it was really crickets, you know, for the most part, he wasn't getting any of the answers that he needed. So, he immediately started going to solutions, realizing that there should be a place where I can go and get answers from people who you know.”
Justin Brown speaks to the experience of his cofounder of Big Marker, who found this path for different reasons than we’ve heard before. When he couldn’t find answers for his mother, who was suffering from cancer, he got busy creating.
There are times in your life where you may recognize a call like this. When you’re vehemently searching for the answers you need to help someone you care about, or to help yourself, or to help a community you’re involved with.
If you can’t find the answers you need, if you’ve exhausted your resources, then you may need to take a different approach and get busy creating.
