Episode 9: Building Communities with Diversity in Mind with Yai Vargas
"For me, it's so important that I stay tied to the mission of professional development, and more particularly for those women - Latinas and women of color who don't have the time or money to go back to school to get a degree to obtain a job - I try to stay very, very focused on that mission. Because if you start baking in things that don't align with that mission or don't feel good, it starts to water down the authenticity of it."
Yai Vargas, of The Latinista, joined Rob to talk about why, as an entrepreneur, it's so important to gain clarity on what your brand stands for.
Stepping out as an entrepreneur can mean so much more than being in control of your wealth. It can mean you take a stand for an underserved population, or raise money for a cause you care about, or, like Yai, provide valuable professional development skills to Latinas and women of color.
Partnerships, sponsorships, and other forms of collaboration will come into view as you continue on your entrepreneurial journey. Some will feel good and feel aligned with your mission. Others may not. It's going to be up to you to decide what you want your brand, and your name, to mean to your community.
