Getting attendees to sign up for your event before launch day is by no means the only opportunity you have to grow your list.
Your event is not a single point in time. You have its build up, the event itself, and the aftercare. Treat your mailing list with respect - growing your mailing list is not about collecting as many addresses as possible and just leaving them there, it’s about continuing to cultivate engagement. Don’t forget about your new sign ups once the event is over - give them a reason to stay.
Most of the events we see at HeySummit are ‘Evergreens’ - they’re left open once they’re over. They’re great for SEO and for people to discover your event after the fact.
The Worlds of Learning summit for online course creators and entrepreneurs is a great example of an open event. Although it was launched in March 2021, people are still free to sign up for an all-access pass or a replay of a specific talk they’re interested in. Record your event, keep it open, and don’t take away any future opportunities to grow your list.
